Vinayaka Chavithi is one of the most beautiful festivals celebrated in our homes. Along with the beautiful Ganesh idol, pooja, flowers and prasadam, food has a very special place in this festival.
In many Telugu families, Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations continue for several days. During these 11 days, different traditional dishes are prepared as an offering to Lord Vinayaka and are later enjoyed by the whole family.
At Rajugarivantalu, I always feel that festival food is not just about taste. It carries our traditions, childhood memories and the love with which our elders prepared every dish.
Here is a simple 11-day Vinayaka Chavithi food menu with traditional dishes that you can prepare at home.
Day 1 – Modakalu & Undrallu
The first day is incomplete without Undrallu and Modakalu.
Undrallu made with rice rava, chana dal and a little seasoning are one of the most traditional offerings for Lord Ganesha. Sweet modakalu with jaggery and coconut are another favourite.

Day 2 – Bellam Kudumulu
On the second day, we can prepare simple and delicious Bellam Kudumulu.
Rice flour, jaggery and coconut come together beautifully in this recipe. Steaming them gives a soft texture and wonderful aroma.

Day 3 – Pulihora Special
Pulihora is one of those dishes that is perfect for any festival. The combination of tamarind, sesame, peanuts and tempering gives it a wonderful festive flavour.
For Vinayaka Chavithi, Pulihora can be offered as prasadam along with a simple sweet.

Day 4 – Chakkara Pongali
A festive meal feels complete with Chakkara Pongali.
Rice and moong dal cooked with jaggery, ghee, cashews and raisins make this dish rich and delicious.

Day 5 – Boorelu Special
For a slightly grander festive menu, Boorelu are a wonderful choice.
The sweet filling made with chana dal and jaggery is covered with a soft batter and deep fried until golden.

Day 6 – Garelu & Payasam
Crispy Garelu with a bowl of creamy payasam make a lovely traditional meal.

Day 7 – Traditional Vegetarian Meal
By the seventh day, we can prepare a complete traditional Andhra vegetarian meal.

Day 8 – Sweet Pongali & Vada
Sweet Pongali and vada make a delicious combination for the festival days.

Day 9 – Coconut Special
Coconut is used in many traditional festival recipes. On this day, a simple coconut-based menu can be prepared.

Kudumulu are one of the dishes most closely associated with Vinayaka worship.
